What  PRF treatments?

The PRF treatments is a new, all-natural solution that treats common areas that show the first signs of ageing and hair loss, it is saturated with platelets and fibrin which are a source of healing proteins and growth factors.

What is Platelet rich plasma (PRP)?

Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is well known for its skin rejuvenating properties. It is commonly used for wound care and healing in many aspects of medicine and dentistry. In recent years it has been popularised by the ‘Vampire Facial’. At Beyond Skin we use the advanced next generation PRP known as Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF).

What is the difference between PRF and PRP?

The PRF products are spun at a lower speed so that the layers of the blood do not separate out as distinctly. This allows some of the white blood cells and stem cells to remain within the platelet layer that is collected for treatment.

Why is PRF better than PRP?

Essentially, there are more healing factors within PRF than is typically seen in PRP. In addition to this the lower spin speed causes less trauma to the individual cells of the blood which  allows  more mesenchymal cells to remain in the final PRF product.

How does PRF work?

Once injected the activated concentrated platelets start accelerating healing and kick starting the regeneration process, producing a gradual, cumulative and long lasting effect. This gives it potent collagen and elastin stimulating properties, resulting in tightened, lifted and more youthful skin.

How is PRF/iPRF prepared?

The incredible thing about PRF is that it is 100% natural with no additives, it is made from your own blood. A small sample of blood is collected from your arm to prepare your PRF serum. The blood is then slowly spun in a centrifuge which isolates the white blood cells and platelets to create the rich PRF serum. We are then able to use the serum either topically onto the skin or injected into the problem areas.

Where can PRP + PRF be injected?

iPRF can be injected or used after micro- needling into the face – under eyes, forehead lines, crow’s feet, lip lines, laugh lines, cheeks and marionette lines. It is also injected into the scalp and eyebrows to stimulate hair growth.

iPRF is saturated with a much greater amount of growth factors than standard PRP. These growth factors are responsible for wound healing and skin rejuvenation  Because PRF forms a fibrin matrix when used in the skin, it is able to release active growth factors  into the skin for much longer than conventional PRP (2 weeks compared with 24-48 hours). The first changes after PRF treatment is seen within couple of weeks, the maximum effect is reached in about six to eight weeks.

How long does PRF last?

PRF is performed in a series of three or four treatments, spaced six to eight weeks apart. Long-term effects, such as skin tightening, collagen production and enhanced skin quality, may take up to three to four months to be noticed and can last from six to 12 months. The visibility of expected benefits and results of the PRF treatment is typically seen after six weeks from initial treatment.

PRF treatment before and after

Age-related collagen loss contributes to thinning skin in the area,  fair-skinned patients may find that thinning skin will make the under eye colour get even more pronounced as time goes on, leaving a blue or purple-tinge under eye.

Typically in skin of colour, under eye circles are a genetic matter instead of thin skin or tissue loss and hyperpigmentation is more common.

We assess each patient  individually in one of our complimentary consultations and give our professional suggestion on a treatment plan.

There is  no one universal reason or cause for chronic dark circles and depending on the structure of your bones, and the texture and integrity of your skin, dermal under eye fillers may not be the right solution for you.

Traditional fillers injected under the eyes can often lead to a puffy look, due to the fillers hydrophilic nature, add a blueish tinge to the area, and are also at risk of migrating to different areas of the face

PRF Under Eye filler is a treatment involving your body’s own platelets and growth factors which comes from your own body’s blood, helps to kickstart collagen production and new cell growth.  This process helps tighten thinning skin under the eyes and improves the overall tone and texture of the under eye area.

PRF is ideal for a variety of skin tones and ages, because of its ability to help both underlying structural issues (like receding eye sockets) and surface problems, like hyperpigmentation and thin under eye skin.
